Did you know that April is Autism Awareness month? It will be difficult to express just how important this month is to us here at House of Jude in one blog post but, here we go!
What is Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurological disorder that affects an individual’s repetitive behaviours, their ability to interact, socialize, communicate and learn. One individual may have different symptoms and behavioural characteristics than another. It is referred to as a “spectrum” for this reason. Some individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder require substantial support while others require minimal support. Regardless of severity, some level of support is always required to ensure every individual with a diagnosis reaches their full potential.

- 1 in 42 males are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- 1 in 165 females are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Males are 4 times more likely to be diagnosed than females

Blue Moon Foundation
We are so grateful to be connected to the Blue Moon Foundation and the little guy that inspired it all, Jreyk - a bright, blue eyed 6 year old boy, nephew to the founder of House of Jude. Jreyk has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and his mom has been inspired by his diagnosis to promote awareness and provide support and resources to families and individuals living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We are so proud to contribute this foundation by donating a portion of all sales from our Solstice Collection to their mission. That means, when you shop our Solstice Turkish towels and Blankets, you are also giving back and supporting this incredible cause (double win, right?).

- In 2020 we donated a total of $2500.00
We hope that this year, we can donate even more because whether you know someone with Autism Spectrum Disorder or not, it is truly a wonderful cause!
